White Rabbit lists mini calzones at £5.75 on weekdays from noon to 4.30pm. These are smaller than a full pizza. A Margherita is listed at £9.50 at Sartorelli’s and £9.75 at White Rabbit. With just 25p between them, the shared market seating or pub setting may decide it. These prices were checked against the menus on 18 October 2026. Gloucester Green: take one lap first
Gloucester Green’s outdoor market is off George Street, near the coach station. The council lists trading on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, though individual stalls vary. Take a lap to see the menus and what each portion includes. A group can order from different stalls and meet at an agreed spot. Alpha Bar: bowls and salads
Alpha Bar serves hot lunch bowls and salads inside the Covered Market, with seasonal ingredients and orders assembled at the counter. Ask what comes with each size. For a Sunday or bank-holiday visit, confirm opening directly. Two pizza options
Sartorelli’s serves wood-fired sourdough pizza at Covered Market units 24–25. The Oxford shop is walk-in only, with shared market seating. It currently opens at 11.45am from Tuesday to Sunday. White Rabbit at 21 Friars Entry serves pizza from noon in a pub setting. Most tables are kept for walk-ins, while groups of eight or more need a reservation. After lunch
The Covered Market, college streets and a free museum are all easy to fit around a central lunch. Gloucester Green is handy after a coach journey, but exposed stalls are less comfortable in wet weather. Allow time to eat before a booked tour or departure.
