Why He Killed the Fascist

Micah, Saoirse, Kate, and Rowan are captive witnesses to the rising popularity of the Fascist. As this charismatic extremist captures the public imagination, they find themselves unable to look away — and increasingly powerless to intervene. Why He Killed The Fascist, a compelling new play by Peter Hardisty, powerfully juxtaposes the normal lives of these characters against the Fascist's horrific speeches, rallying cries, and the escalating fervor of far-right radicalism. But what do you do when you’re powerless to fight back? When traditional resistance fails, what choice remains? All Micah knows is that silence is no longer an option. This provocative production confronts the boundaries of political violence — both symbolic and physical — to ask: how do you respond to the pain of your neighbour, and what happens when we cave into violence?
