Pre-theatre dinner succeeds on timing, not prestige. Pick a venue near your actual theatre, tell it about your curtain time, and leave room for a queue, a menu change or a slow walk through the centre.
Oxford Playhouse is on Beaumont Street; the New Theatre is on George Street. They are close, but a booking at the wrong end of the centre can still make the first act feel needlessly fast.

Stay around Beaumont Street and St Giles
For the Playhouse, make Beaumont Street, Little Clarendon Street or St Giles your search area. Gees is about a ten-minute walk from the centre and serves brunch earlier in the day; check its current all-day menu and reserve rather than assuming a walk-in table.
New Theatre
Keep George Street close
The New Theatre works best with a central table you can leave quickly. The White Rabbit in Friars Entry is useful if pizza and a relaxed booking policy fit the group; its own guidance gives food-service hours and reservation rules.
Early curtain
Make the meal smaller
If you cannot sit down well before the show, choose a market lunch, café food or a post-show meal instead of demanding a full dinner from a tight window.

Know what stays open
Check restaurant kitchen hours independently, especially Sunday to Thursday. A drink after a show is more reliable when you know whether food service has already ended.
