A film at the Ultimate Picture Palace
The Ultimate Picture Palace is on Jeune Street, just off Cowley Road. Its art deco-inspired auditorium has a bar inside the screening room. Doors open 30 minutes before each screening, and the short run of adverts and trailers means the film starts close to the advertised time. Allow time to find your seat and buy a drink or snack. Live music at the O2 Academy
The O2 Academy is at 190 Cowley Road, farther along the road than the cinema turning. Its programme covers live music and other events. The individual event listing gives door times, age restrictions and entry requirements. The venue has no parking of its own, but its travel page has public-transport information. The community market on Union Street
The East Oxford Farmers’ and Community Market is held at East Oxford Primary School on Union Street. The council lists Saturday trading from 10am to 1pm, and the organiser posts the week’s traders. Caper is a family bookshop with events and activity space at 74–77 Magdalen Road. Its programme includes children’s activities and book events for adults.
